For Envy On The Coast's 4th Annual Holiday Show, they played at Westbury Music Fair. That place is great. The stage is at the center of the theatre, with the seats all around. Although our seats were off to the side, being in the second row made up for it (and the stage rotated when EOTC played anyway).
Vinnie Caruana was up first with an acoustic set. He played some from The Movielife and I Am The Avalanche (new ones too!). Unfortunately, my memory card only allowed me to record one song, my favourite from IATA, "Green Eyes." After his set I went to his merch table to chat and get a picture. He was amused when I told him how he's friends with my old social studies teacher, and he talked with Celine and Jenny about all the teachers at Calhoun (he grew up in Merrick).
As Tall As Lions killed it. Brilliant. However, it was too long sober for my taste. The guitarist was really cute and had a nice beard which helped with keeping my attention of such a long set.
This was my 6th time seeing Envy On The Coast. I really miss them back when they just had their EP, they were more down to earth. But I think too many people expect them to stay in the same place artistically, because people always tell me how much they think they suck, especially live. They also don't always play songs exactly how they are recorded though which is also why I think people don't like them live. Some just don't see that a band grows, their sound changes and with that they sometimes change their old songs to fit with their new sound. No one should expect someone to stay the same person their entire life. Enough ranting, about their set: They did a great cover song!: "House Of The Rising Sun" - The Animals. So, so good. Me and Celine were so excited when the piano part came on and we expected that song; and they delievered. EOTC ended the set with "Suckerpunch," my favourite song of their's, but then came out for an encore. They played a very mellow, progressive, but beautiful Paper Rival cover, "Alabama." If they wanted to play a Paper Rival cover, there are plenty more that are more appropriate for a last song, which it was. I was expecting a 2-song encore, to leave us with something of theirs, something to keep our hearts punding and blood racing with their beats, "Temper Temper" possibly, but no. That was the end.

Sorry to be totally annoying, but it was the 4th annual holiday show...don't forget about the 2006 one at ritual when BLG opened for them. hahahha
