Adventures in a cast I can't walk in - Prom Numero Due

Prom #2 - Calhoun

One word: wheelchair.
The night started off at the preprom house where everyone was informed by smart phones and cnn.com of Michael Jackson's death. How lovely, right? Terrace on the Park, where prom was held, was very very nice actually. Not many things in Queens right next to highways can be so upscale. The room where Calhoun's prom was had a very nice view too. Of course I noticed it all because I sat at the table the entire night (except for when I went to the ladies' room where the handicapped bathroom was locked and I had to perform my most difficult task ever). I didn't expect my date to sit with me the entire time, I actually did not want him to. It was his prom, he should be with all of his friends instead of keeping me company. For a good two hours I was pretty much alone at the table except for the occasional friend that came over to sit but did not talk to me to only ask if I was "ok." No, I was not ok. I was not feeling like a whole, functional person because I'm not. Being wheeled around is extremely humiliating and all I want is to feel like myself. The only time I felt better was when Mike or Manny were talking and being funny like they always do, which made me feel like me (and of course they were sitting down with me like equals). Throughout the night this extremely creepy guy kept coming up to me and asking if I would like to dance. Apparently the 20 or so "no thank you"s I told him was not enough because he even tried to wheel me away. Thank Ford my wheelchair brakes were on.

After the prom we all went back into Nassau County territory to drop some people off and to find an open drive thru. Fuck you Burger King. Wendy's was open and I got fries :D After eating we went to Zachary's in East Meadow. They did not have an elevator, only stairs to the basement where the club area is. I really did not want to experience any more humiliation by having 4 guys bringing me down the stairs. I would have waited alone, I didn't want to ruin anyone else's night but Celine and Manny waited with me. Celine waited for a little bit. I knew she loathed being out there, so she made the excuse of having to go to the bathroom, and I didn't expect to see her up there again, which I didn't. I did eventually go downstairs, after the cute magician performed for me and Manny outside. How could I say no? Haha. I won a raffle right after I came down. It may have been rigged? I won a spa kit type thing. A little while later we left in a cab and went back to Celine's. Of course me being me, I made myself stay awake until 6 am. June 26th I slept, and slept, and slept.
