Big D and the Kids Table, Westbound Train, Across the Aisle - Highline Ballroom, NYC
Across the Aisle was pretty good. Right when they started playing I had a wave of desire to hop right into the pit - it had been way too long. So I did, for a little less than a song and a half. When I got out to take a breather I started having an asthma attack. It sucks when you skank sometimes, whilst doing it you don't feel tired or out of breath, but right when you stop it hits you. I went back in after a couple of songs sitting out, taking it easy though. After they played I sat on the couch waiting for Westbound Train, and this guy started talking to me. I didn't really mind, but he was a tad creeper-ish. Why are the only guys with enough guts to just come up and talk me are creepers? Westbound Train was quite enjoyable. I never got into them, but I might now.And then...BIG D! I have seen them 1.25 times in the past - Warped 2007: I was leaving early because I almost passed out and saw 5 minutes of their set but I couldn't handle staying any longer. Warped 2009: I was in a wheelchair and all the way in the back of the crowd, so I was pretty excited for true experience with them. Perfect opening - The Special's cover "Little Bitch." Straight into the pit. I completely let loose for their set. During "Hell On Earth" I was planning on getting into the pit, so I got into position during the slow beginning, but right when it picked up into the punk part I was knocked to the floor. I had to drag myself out of the pit on the floor with my arms, whilst being trampled. A stranger helped me up (one of the reasons I love shows). They did a 3 song encore (I think?), closing the show with "LAX." I had to make it count, so I asked a random, big guy to help me up and crowd surfed for a full 10 seconds not before I hit an open spot in the crowd. They had my feet held onto and in the air, there was just no one holding my middle and head. My head almost slammed into the ground, but at the last minute they caught me.
I was disgustingly sweaty, but it was awesome.
